Legally Salman

Salman Khan is all set for a double brush with the law over the next two- three days, although in contrasting ways.

Sometime next week, just ahead of Dabangg 2 release on December 21, he is going to meet Delhi Police personnel.

On the other side of the coin, he could spend his birthday on December 27 in a Mumbai court.

It is worthwhile mentioning that Salman has been summoned for an appearance on that day in line with the hit-and-run case of 2002. Salman has already said in media that he has no celebration plans.

“Salman Khan will be in Delhi to honour and felicitate the brave men who laid down their lives this year while serving society. He will attend the event in his capacity as founder of his NGO, Being Human,” pointed out Delhi Police commissioner Neeraj Kumar.

There was a buzz in the media that Salman would be screening Dabangg 2 for the police in Delhi. However, now indications are that this is not true.

Coming back to the case against Salman, it has been mentioned that he was under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his Land Cruiser into a bakery in the early hours of September 28, 2002, killing one and injuring a few others who were asleep on the footpath.

Although charges of culpable homicide against him were subsequently dropped, and Salman was not found guilty, fresh hearing has now come up on his birthday.

“I am not very sure what I am doing on December 27. I myself might be in court. If the lawyers say I don’t need to go then I won’t but if they say I have to then I will definitely go,” the actor said.
