What about becoming a Santa for needy this Christmas: We salute Swati Mehrotra

You would get a lot of satisfaction by becoming Santa for the underprivileged this festive season.
Indian footwear designer Swati Mehrotra is appealing people to donate old clothes, shoes and other items to distribute these among those who required it the most on the Christmas eve.
Mehrotra, who designs under Swati Modo brand, has joined hands with the likes of Nikhil and Upasna Chugh of London Market Property, Sandeep Marwah and designer Pooja Motwani for this cause.
“All these things will go to kids and people on the streets. The idea is to be a Santa to as many people as we can and to give away things which are useful,” pointed out Mehrotra.
Up till now, Swati has been able to collect around 100 pairs of old shoes and of course, there is lot more to do.
“The more, the merrier,” she said, hoping that people associated with fashion fraternity is going to come forward and support the cause.
Mehrotra pinpointed the fact that kids from Marwah’s free education institute, Apna School, will act as volunteers for the initiative, while number of students from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) are also going to do their bit.
“The kids will help us in refurbishing and putting together all the items, and later, some of them will be dressed as elves to go along with a Santa to distribute the items,” she said.
