Bombayla Devi raise hopes of an Indian medal after qualifying for the pre-quarters in women’s archery.

Jitu Rai failed in his favourite event, the 50m pistol shooting, as India’s medal drought continued in Rio Olympics 2016 continued on Day 5. Bombayla Devi qualified for the archery pre-quarters to give some cheer.

In weightlifting, India’s Sathish Kumar Sivalingam finished fourth among six competitors with a total lift of 329 kgs.

India’s disappointment continued in the hockey field with their women’s team losing 6-1 against Australia. It was the second defeat in three matches.
